Eligibility Requirements

In 2019 the LEGION Act was signed into law, which changed and greatly simplified our eligibility requirements — making millions more veterans eligible to become members of The American Legion.

If you are currently on active duty serving the United States honorably anywhere in the world, or have served honorably during any of the following eligible war eras, we invite you to become a member:

• December 7, 1941 to the present
• April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 (World War I)

Dues

Membership is $40 per year. Includes a subscription to The American Legion Magazine.
